I use Yahoo e-mail so I wanted two names to kinda rhyme with Yahoo and I couldn't figure out until it was too late how to spell hooyah (1. The battle cry for sea air land specwarriors, aka NAVY SEALS.
2. An affirmative acknowledgment as in: I understand, HELL YEAH, Yes Sir, No Problem.

About 11-12 years ago I bought a wrecked '79 Porsche 911 almost on a whim.  Had been looking for a Pontiac and right beneath that ad was the Porsche.  Had tended to think of them as just glorified VWs, not that there's anything wrong with VWs.  Anyway, after rebuilding the car I came away with a real appreciation for how they are engineered and built, hence pcar (Porsche) nut.  And in many ways there are similarities that could be drawn with Guzzi, solid engineering and a refined design over time.

I believe the origin of my name goes back to old England where my ancestors raised and harvested wheat. Wheat takers.

Twhitaker---interesting...I'm of the Ohio Whitakers (and Kentucky Whitakers.)  That's pretty cool!

My User name is an ode to my 1954 Buick Roadmaster, but all girlied up...'cause I'm a girl.

I've been thinking the name is not "wheat-taker" but "wheat-aker," "aker" being related to the old Germanic term for cultivated field (still used in English "acre"!).
So it would be wheatfield.

I was watching one of the races in the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing.
I noticed that the jockeys were in a low, stretched forward position, the "monkey crouch."
It reminded me of the freeway position that I ride my Monza in.

I don't always ride motorcycles, when I do,  I prefer  Moto Guzzi.

Keep riding, my friends...

My user name is my personal tribute to the late great Lux Interior lead singer of the Cramps. If you never caught them live you missed out big time.

My Guzzi is called Francesca but that's probably whole new thread.

No special meaning to mine.  I just picked it because it was unique and I could remember it.

In 1984, an Austrian rock singer who went by the name Falco released his third album – inventively named Falco 3.  Some of you may remember a song from that album entitled Rock Me Amadeus.  In any case, there is a track named Vienna Calling (Wildebube Mix).  The song is mostly in German, but parts of it are in English – including the Wildebube part.  I can’t remember all of it right now, but he says something about, “the return of the Wildebube” and says, “every mother should know – danger, danger.”  When my wife and I were setting up our first hotmail account, everything we tried that was some variation of our name(s) came back already in use.  One of us came up with Wildebube and it just stuck.

Incidentally, even though it’s German, Wildebube is grammatically incorrect and probably the result of Falco changing languages in mid-sentence more than once.  Bube is a masculine noun for a boy that has a kind of impish, lovable rouge connotation to it.  Wild means the same thing in German as is does in English.  Since Bube is masculine, when wild is used to modify it, it should have the masculine ending and be ‘wilder Bube’.  But in German, putting ‘the’ in front of it changes things.  In German, ‘the’ would become ‘der’ and ‘wild’ would change from ‘wilder’ to ‘wilde’.  Wild boy would be Wilderbube, but THE wild boy would be der wilde Bube.  In the song, Falco says, “the Wildebube.”  Maybe it’s just music and doesn’t have to be right, but I prefer to think that he was using the English ‘the’ and the German ‘wild’ with the appropriate ‘e’ on the end of it.

'Low Down' is a term used in reference to a 'diverging approach' signal by a lot of railroad employees.

Diverging Approach:   Proceed on diverging route at prescribed speed through turnout prepared to stop before any part of train or engine passes the next signal.

I've taken quite a few diverging routes in my life (and will most likely see some more before I'm done), and I always expect to take one when I'm on the bike.   :P
