Super rally as always!! Great company, activities and superb weather!

Took a bunch of detours on the way home to bag some more states and explore the back roads and go visit another rally site!  Many thanks to all!!

Well, I wandered all around the Osage Nation today, then across central OK on 60 and 16.  I've now bunked down for the night in Warner, OK.   Tomorrow it's off to Talihena and Mena and then home.

Prescott , how did you end up in Warner of all places ? Be careful , there is a young lady here in Muskogee , whose family broke down in their motor home in Warner while travelling cross country . That was twenty years ago and she still hasn't escaped this area

We cannonballed home last night, 700 miles of easy interstate, as compared to not so easy storms, washouts, floods, etc. going to CV that took two days.
*Really* enjoyed meeting many denizens of WG for the first time, and (ahem) re meeting some, too. Even JJ was there.
What a great place to have a national rally.  :thumb: Centrally located, so it's not a *major* undertaking to get there from anywhere in the country.. room for hundreds if the word gets out. I think I counted 5 MGNOC state reps there, to boot.
Thanks to all that helped put it on.

Nick left our house in Columbus, IN this morning at 5:00 AM and is headed home.  He texted recently from Wilmington, OH and said he pulled off the highway to give his feet a chance to warm up -- the temp over there was 31 degrees.

Had a good time at the event.  Kudos to all of those who helped put it on.  Looking forward to next year.

Beautiful day in Cedar Vale.  Hilltop Restaurant was busy for breakfast with the influx of Guzzisti.  Hewins Park was bustling with Guzzisti.  Forty-something folks for supper at the pavillion.

The weather is great, so don't miss Saturday's festivities, if you're in the area.

A few pix from Hewins Park today:

Just some observations before this year's Cedar Vale rally becomes a memory .

As always , it is the people who attend that make this event fun . We are growing at a steady rate , not exactly sure how many we had this year because some of you guys didn't sign the book . Apparently at least 20% of the "family" are in the witness protection program , or are wanted by the police  Best estimate of attendance seems to be about 65 riders , plus another 8 or so locals who attended the Sat night festivities .

Further more , some of the activities planned didn't work out quite as planned , Gliderjohn's washers tournament never got off the ground , Luap's attempt to gather the group and form a giant V with RK's trike at the point so he could get a drone shot was doomed from the start , because , well , because of the aforementioned 20% thing  That , and the fact that we are like a bunch of feral cats  Next year maybe these things will happen , so we are putting out that info now , don't get that "surprised" look when we mention this in 2018

The bike show was fun , the locals turned out in the tens , and seemed to enjoy the activity .
This year's first place winner ,

                                 Lowryter's immaculate '98 EV

Congratulations John , now stop complaining about the lack of recognition

One last thing , the list of folks who worked so hard during the event is too long to list . We all know who they are , so a great big thanks

Oh , and John Henry , that effin birthday card tried to start singing again on my way home , thought the old black Jackal was blowing up

Let us know when you arrive home .

 Dusty

Tex

well, I was on old 66, smiling and waving to the youngsters who assembed along the roadside, When I saw Slicer's Saab-powered hack in my rearview.  I knew the days of cheap shipping were over and he was gonna collect for you.  Luckily he can't read past single syllables so he isn't know it was an Alaska plate in front of him.  I split lanes between two semis who of course had already met Slicer, so they were happy to hide me till we were out of sight.  I figured that when you dropped the dime on me you told him my route, so I hopped the storm ditch and fence and hid out in a rest area on I-40. I'd stay here, but the trike gets too much attention.

Dusty, I hit the slab after dark when there was nothing to see.  The pavement is better and the big trucks squash the deer into more manageable chunks.  66 is slow, bumpy, and hard to find in the dark.  Kinda like this girl I knew once, but with fewer curves.

Total of 1300 miles of smiles...home safe and sound...the Norge purred the whole way, never missing a beat.

Made it back home and only took 30 miles of highway, the rest were nice back roads, over hills, lakes, Oachitas and all kinds of back roads.

Thanks to all..great fun, wonderful ambience, lots of laughs and great conversations and tips on all kinds of topics...thanks to Daniel as well for the evening slide show, Chuck for the Scura tips (written down :) ), Prescott for another great book suggestion, Chris for the Whisky, Rudy for a very engaging and entertaining political conversation on the front bench on main street in Cedar Vale, and all the rest for a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Could we have had better weather...was drawn up just perfectly!

When's the next rally??   :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Dusty, evidently it is the birthday card that keeps on giving.

Arrived home about an hour ago, (about 7:45 EST), and took a warm shower. Long day as we left St. Louis this morning. Chilly all day but the heated gear helped a lot. It was about 48 when I got home.

Nice venue for a rally. I had a great time meeting new people and getting together with those I already know!

Thanks all.

I'm safely back home.   What a weekend.  And many thanks to Paul, Dusty, my lovely wife
Arlene, and others who convinced me to actually take today off, a Monday.  The Talimena area was brilliant.

My only complaint about the rally concerns Dusty being too much of a Mother Hen and "Safety Nazi," thereby causing the cancelation of Midnight Mumblety-Peg.

I'm especially sore about this because I had bought a brand new 10" Bowie knife just for this event, and had "Slicer" over in Lindale put a wicked edge to it.

It didn't help my mood much when I tried to get at least some use from the thing this morning, when I went to do a "manly shave" with  nothing but my Bowie knife and a jar of bear fat that FUBAR sold me for the bargain price of $49.

Arlene says deep facial scars like this are kinda sexy.

Anyway.   For 2018, I propose we play Lawn Darts.   Filmed live and in aerial perspective by Luap's drone.
