That ones looks to be the same one as the second one I linked. I think (not 100% sure as it's been a while since I've listed anything on eBay) is that you have to pay eBay a higher fee if your opening bid is higher. It's also to get the bidding going with a lower opening bid.

One currently on eBay (01/26/16):

A few parts changed, but looks like it's been made for comfort and reliability. Could be easily reverted to stock I think.

The g5 is under rated and under appreciated. I had one for a few years drove it all over the country then sold it to a friend then bought it back some years later. Enjoyed it again for a while sold it to another friend with the promise I get first dibs on buying it back......  :thumb:

Oh,,,, I loaned it out to an Aussie last summer for his Rt. 66 trip. :boozing:

Here's my G-5 have owned for over 20 years, absolutely love this bike, wouldn't take a farm in Texas for it.(a quote from another member here, MotoG5,I saw Rays beautiful G-5 at the Iowa rally in 1996,I was riding an 73 Eldorado I restored.I wanted to buy it from him and that's when he said the farm in Texas thing,he did help me find the one that's in the picture)it had 24.000 in 96 when I bought it ,Approaching 120.000 miles. My original G-5 engine(I still have)was getting tired so at 100.000 miles I dropped in a low mileage Cal2 engine. I built those large panniers many years ago,(I call it my two wheeled pickup)these bikes are real workhorses.you can really over load them and they don't seem to mind.It gets 50 mpg all day long loaded or naked.I really don't ride it much anymore,I moved onto a nice 2007 Norge ,and my new favorite 2012 Stelvio. All Guzzi's have their quirks part of the fun in owning them is figuring out the good and bad points and make improvements on the bad ones.

Charlie Pinero had the first G5 in the states in 1978 he was personal friends with the Berliner importer he had that bike for a year-and-a-half I purchased it from him with 33,000 miles on it in a year-and-a-half I drove it and put on over over 250,000 miles on that bike thing was beautiful the biggest thing that ever had to go wrong on it was the clutch heads were never off the whole time I had it I sold it to a guy in Canada far as I know it's still running if you can find or have the initial brochure of the G5 they'll show a person with a brown leather coat standing under a stone bridge and the G5 is in front that is not me personally but it is the motorcycle that I ended up owning Berliner had to borrow the bike back from Charlie Pinero so they can make the brochures I did have a wonderful time with that my bike originally had pegs I changed it over to floorboards that I got from goast  motorcycle as a take off of another bike excellent motorcycle

Conti replicas, likely made by Bub. Don't know of anyone that makes them for Guzzis, but there are stainless steel repros available, just Goggle "Conti replica mufflers". I'm not sure what brand the Conti reps on my "barn find" 850-T are.

The other side looks much worse - busted rocker cover and sump, bent fork tubes. It might end up being parted out or be the basis for a 750S "tribute".

Cool Story,I had something similar happen to me (although not motorcycle related) I'm cabinet maker by trade and in the mid 90's I was interested in buying a 12" jointer  I liked the design of the Delta para lever table adjustment on the Delta DJ series jointers they at the time only made a 6+8 inch models so I decided to call the Delta company and ask why they don't make the larger size .They put me in touch with product development And the guy we'll call Pete said"it's funny you called because as we speak were in the middle of developing a DJ 30 which will be a 12" width just what your looking for.He agreed to keep me in the loop as to production and release date. And so it went over a couple years till one day Pete called and said Randy the prototype DJ 30 is finished and testing is complete were in the process of taking photo's for the owners manual,he went on to say that the actual model that will be sold in the US is 6-8 months away. But you have been so patient waiting for this 12" jointer that my boss and I agree that if you'll come get it here in Tupelo Miss. (I visited Elvis's birth place, a tiny shack while I was there) we're giving it to you.WOW! OK Thanks  :thumb:,,,,So the DJ 30 that I us in my shop everyday is the one pictured in the owners manual, and curiously it has no serial number.it's an orphan. if you were interested in purchasing a new DJ30 they go for around $3500.00

Someone, please go grab this one so I don't have to think about it anymore..  :blank:

It appears to be priced right, and looks like a good one. Nice Lester wheels too.

If that was closer to home, I'd be at risk for buying it.

Seriously considering buying this.   Can get it home for $400.
Hmmmm.

I really love this bike. What I had in mind when I bought my Jackal in '13

Groover, seems to me this would be a good option for a particularly long lanky rider, no? That seat would make it easy for anyone to stretch out, I'd think.

Not sure how the 1st gen compared to the 2nd gen as far as long rides go, that's why I think I need to own one as well!

The seat on those are a little puffier and softer than the ones used on the later ones; The later ones are bit more fitted, but very close overall. The foot pegs and lower bars with less pullback like on that one seem to give a better stance for the zippy rides, but "I think" maybe the footboards (feet more forward) and the police bars (a little more relaxed) as on the 2nd generation may be better for long rides, but those are just assumptions.

Again, the only thing I'm sure about is that that seat is basically a couch  :azn:

Edit: looking at the photos again, not sure those are the original bars.

Ok so I called about the G5 in chicago (it is a land line) and talked about the bike for a while and Sat. I will go pick it up. I'm trying to find a bike I can bond with, I started with a 76 convert and really liked the bike but I like running through the gears better so I will try the G5, sooo in my search for a bike to bond with I picked up a 2009 Calvin in pearl white off a member last fall that is a really nice bike but it just don't do it for me and I will be listing it soon, if anyone is interested PM me for details and if this G5 don't work out it will go and my search will continue :boozing:I will try a new  post later how the G5 pick up and ride goes :bike-037:

A buddy of mine likes to say that he had a Convert that he hated for 130K miles. He says his G5 is a Convert with a proper transmission.
