N.J. Nick Does Drive-By the Top of Virginia

En route to Hiawasse for the Georgia Mountain Rally -- http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=75875.0 -- with an interim stop tonight at Willville.

So, Nick decided he would escape the East Coast Metro-blob before dawn this morning, truck his Norge to our place in Cross Junction, leave the truck, and ride to the event.

He arrived here at about 8:30 a.m., just as a local nursery was delivering some fruit trees and a few hardwoods (the latter to mask our VDOT lot neighbor).

Anyway, after a quick obligatory tour of the Moto Grappa, we had some.

Grappa.  ;)

Then, sweet Kathi, knowing I was aching to ride and escape the tree planting, told me to go with Nick awhile.  I did, but, after about 50 miles south (on grand back roads) and seeing the ever-darkening clouds, I decided that dry discretion was the better part of drenched valor.  I left Nick to his likely wet fate and headed home.

Nick's goal was to meet Manfredo at Willville tonight.  He'll make it, but may be a drenched guy when he gets there.

Here are a few pix if you want to see some evidence of some of the above.  The captions are not visible in the "slideshow," so -- if you care about those -- just scroll down the display as it appears.

Good photos.  Uhhh, is that Popsicle splint repair VDOT approved?  Looks like the ticket for guaranteed acceptance in the official Guzzi brotherhood.

Bill, Kathi,
Thank you for the hospitality.
After we parted ways it rained for about 10 minutes. The BRP was deserted so the ride was enjoyable. Manfredo got here around 7pm. It has rained all night, but today should be better. Thanks for leading me thru the roads in your neck of the woods, Bill.
Leaving for Georgia in an hour or so.
