Cali 1400 Touring SE in USA?

I know they don't show up on the USA website, but have any dealers heard rumors or offers of a Touring SE (specially in the two-tone brown  ) coming to the US?

Have you rode one?  I could not replace my Wing with one as much as I like the 1400.  Too much buffeting over the 1400's windshield at 60 MPH+.  I'd also have to have the seat rebuilt to move me back further.  Not worth it considering I've already got the Wing sorted out with an F4 windshield, Ultimate King seat, Helibars & Traxxion kit.

A lot of people report the buffeting that seems to come from over the windshield is actually coming from under and behind it and a set of MG lowers solves it. The P/O installed them on my Cali 1400 and I get no buffeting at all.

This was a sub model of which I was not aware.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but looking at photos, it really strikes me in a way which the other 1400s do not. It seems that it appeals to me in a manner somewhat like my old Valkyrie.

I guess ultimately though, there aren't enough foibles twixt me and my Calvin to make room for one just yet - even if they were available. I wonder if I wouldn't just buy an Indian?

That's good to know. I'm about exactly of the physical size that the Calvin is not immediately and issue but does significantly limit my "shiftin' about" options on a long ride.

Most importantly though is the issue of highway pegs. I'm not one to go down the road like some riders - most particularly some Harley guys - splayed out like I'm on an OB/GYN table.

I find it weirdly relaxing to throw one foot or the other over the jug and against the top of my Calvin crash bar. Lets me stretch my lower back nicely but can only do one leg at a time and it's clearly not particularly safe - especially for the right one.

Such is the impediment of those thrusted jugs I otherwise love so much.

Eventually, God willing, I'll come of an age where that is no longer an option.

At 6'5", my answer is YES.  Looking to modify my seat rearwards for more legroom.  Doesn't need much, but could definitely use another inch or so.

If I had to cope with an extra half-a-foot, I don't think there's any way I could ride a non-sporting Guzzi.

'Course, depends on the half a foot - might get me in the picture shows!

I have, and didn't notice any buffeting. It was a short test ride, but I was able to get up to cruising speed. I'm about 5'9 with a 30" inseam. Maybe the excitement dulled my sences,  My wife and I climbed off of a borrowed Triumph Tiger after a 100+ mile ride and the 1400 was like a Luxury Liner.
I started out with a similar windscreen on the "02 EV and buffeting was so bad , my vision was blurred at 60 mph. I will ride again before I buy.

Huh? The Cali 1400? The past? They have like 5 model variants now. No the RUMORS are that the Griso may be a thing of the past, and maybe the powertrain in the CARC platform might be a problem (to get through the next tier of EU emissions), but no not the Cali. They've put a lot of eggs ($$$) in that basket.

At the end of the day the differences are ergos and power delivery.

If there ergos don't work for you, the limiting factor is how much they can be changed.

If the power delivery (putting the emphasis on high torque and less peaky wind out delivery) doesn't work for you, yeah, then forget about it.

But unless you're carving pegs on CARC, then you might be surprised how capable something like the Cali 1400 is in the twisties.

The 1400 is only 100 lbs lighter then the Wing, but is almost a foot wider at the rear bags.  Question is will your wife be happy on the 1400 seat vs the Wing's seat?  My wife is spoiled towards the Ultimate seat I put on my Wing (who'd blame her next to the EV seat)  Does the 1400 seat fit you?  I'd need to redo it to move me back.

For the short ride I took, it felt good. Keep in mind, We just climbed off of a Tiger. I've told Diane, we need to ride the Wing in for a test ride and see if we still think the 1400 is a luxury liner. (I think not) She 's thinking the trips will be shorter with more stops. I've heard many times, You won't find a better ride than the Wing. Diane hates the seat on the "02 EV.

OP, the Touring SE is the one I would want, too. However, when I asked my local dealer about it, he said it is not available in the US. (Neither is the chromed-tank V7 II Racer.)

From what I've read after the 2015 model year the California Touring and Custom will be no more; they'll be replaced by the Eldorado along with the MGX-21 and the Audace which technically are all California variants...

It seems like Moto Guzzi is backing itself into a corner with two aggressive bikes (MGX-21 and Audace) and the Eldorado which is a retro cruiser. Having the touring model really seems to round out the whole California lineup.

Personally, I just purchased the California Touring in black and I'll be driving it across country from Moto International to New England in the spring. Hopefully, it will be a nice languorous journey with no major events.

Has anyone heard of or experienced the H crossover exhaust pipe cracking on the California's, the Guzzitech web site states that it's not a matter of if, but more a matter of when. Any comments on the issue would be appreciated.

The last thing that I need is to take 2 weeks off work and then get stuck hundreds of miles from the nearest Guzzi dealer.
