1.30 minutes of highlights here.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/all-blacks/73121583/all-blacks-humiliate-france-to-reach-rugby-world-cup-semifinals

I missed watching the game though. I wonder if there is a full replay anywhere?

No shame for France being walloped by the All Blacks.  They've had their fair share of success:

"Overall, the All Blacks have won 42 Tests against France's 12, with one match drawn. The largest winning margin in a Test between the countries was a 61–10 victory to the All Blacks at Westpac Stadium in Wellington in 2007. The most career points scored by members of either team is 92 by Andrew Mehrtens; he also holds the record for points in one match with 29.

Despite the vastly superior win record of New Zealand in this encounter, France has the greatest number of wins against the All Blacks of any Northern Hemisphere opponent to date. France are sometimes called the "bogey" team of New Zealand, known for having inconsistent results in regular test matches, but have proven to be fierce opponents in the knockout stage of the Rugby World Cup. All Black campaigns in The Rugby World Cup were halted by defeats to France in 1999 and 2007, and were nearly upset again in 2011 with a very narrow 8-7 victory in the final."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_rugby_union_matches_between_France_and_New_Zealand

Anyway, it was an entertaining game with some great moves.

I want to see the Wales v South Africa quarter final too. It sounds like a close one.  (23-19 to SA)

While our win over France is enormously satisfying, as Ritchie McCaw said after the game, it's only bought us another week.

They were that.
I'm a bit surprised that the rules did not allow the ref to reference the video refs. I bet that changes soon, but then there is the risk that the ref will do it every time thus slowing the game.

It leaves us with an all southern hemisphere semi final. How the All Blacks will get on against the South Africans I just don't know, but I suspect  the Pumas might clean up the Ozzies which would be retribution for Scotland.

There are a few implied "ifs" in the last couple of posts and I would like to add one of my own. For instance, if our goal kicker had converted all his attempts, the result would not be in question. What say ye, gentlemen?

Well true, but he didn't.
In any case I don't actually blame the ref. He had a call to make and made it to the best of his ability. Even in the slow mo replays it's a bit of a tough call so a fair enough result  in my opinion.
I can though understand the Scotties being a mite miffed.

I agree with this particular 'if' but the poor goal kicking was a player performance issue. Bad referee decisions are not. Not only was the wrong decision made art that point to award Oz a penalty, there was an incident just before where a Scottish player got barged off the field when he didn't have the ball, which should have been a yellow card and penalty to Scotland.

I hope so. Ireland were crushed by their superior physicality and pace.
Scotland were robbed. If there is a TMO there why not change the laws and use them.

As I said earlier, the rule probably exists to avoid a situation where a ref uses a TMO for every decision.  The game would grind to a boring halt in such a circumstance.

I agree with you though, it should be available. They can deal with the problem of over use when and if it arises.

Scotland: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAA!!!!! We wuz robbed!!!!

OK, then if not a penalty, then the alternative was a scum to the  Wallabies and they score under the post: 7 points for a 5 point win with 5 try's to three. Or they work over to the posts for a three point drop goal, 3pts and 35-34 win.

See, i can use the 'if' as well.

All the whinging that goes on from losers never takes into account what could happen after the change in the game took place.

Suck it up FFS!

Scum awarded. Scotland push the Aussies off the ball and Laidlaw kicks it in to touch. Game over

Right Dusty,

A Scrum   is a method for the two teams to compete for possession of the ball. Here is a short vid that tells you all about it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH5mi1H8lgs

TMO or "Video referee", a television match official may be appointed to assist the referee in determining whether points have been scored. A television match official can only rule on exactly what the referee asks them (and in most unions they can only be asked about events in-goal or immediately before entering in-goal). Television match officials are commonly used in first class and international televised games. (quoting wikipedia)

Got barged off the field In Rugby you are only allowed to physically have at an opposing player if he has the ball. There is a fair bit of accidental or unavoidable contact which is generally ignored but if the Ref thinks it's deliberate he can react quite strongly, including "yellow carding" you which sends you off the field for 10 minutes.  If you do something deliberate like punch someone in the snout, you can get 'red carded' which means you are off for the rest of the game, and possibly more if there is a follow up later. In neither case can anyone be subbed on in your place.

There now, does that help?

We ( ARGENTINA ) are doing well.  Hopefully our team Captain ( Creevy ) will be back for the OZ game.

If we get past that  one fairly undamaged, I like our chances vs the Haka-Boys.

Looking good, so far.      :boozing:

I am surprised that Argentina has done so well, seeing that we beat them not so long ago. After the narrow squeak against Scotland, I hope our boys are on their mettle.

If you want to be really confused, try;

"yeah he wasn't coming through the gate"

"slipping the bind"

"the dark arts"

"hands in the ruck"

"swimming up the side of the maul"

I'm quite worried about the game against Argentina but with HeMan Pocock and Duracell Bunny Hooper we should be OK.

A tough game I gather as they two stepped their way to victory, now that I'm done playing outdoors I have to find the channel to watch the replay.  Definitely want to watch the Argentina match tomorrow though!

Those All Blacks are tough even with a man in the sin bin, or should I say Especially.
And how about Richie McCaw (hope I spelled that right) lobbing an overhead pass to another forward who scored like a winger in the corner
But first we have to get past the Argies......../color]

Well...there you have it.   Good scrappy game, but the Argentines made too many unforced turnovers.  Several opportunities to get close, but the Australian defense was incredible.
