I may be interested but I'd like to know it's value before I bid on it
are there any pitfalls to be wary of?

These bikes always sell above NADA. But at 4k $ and reserve not met I'm sure they're expecting 7 or 8.  That bike is probably worth honestly $5k.. Maybe 5500. But this is e-bay and dumber shit has happened.

I'd say 6K is bottom dollar on that bike.

Yep. The forks and rear shock are probably worth almost half of that amount.

I had one and put about 12,000 miles on the bike before I sold it and the only thing that went wrong was the speedometer but they all break for those years. Servicing the forks is not cheap but other than that they are well sorted and the bike handles great with that suspension. Buy it, they are pretty bikes and this one has the pipes and bags. I only sold mine because I purchased a Daytona.

I put the Ohlins forks and shock on my V11 Sport last year when I got the Le Mans fairing.  The Ohlins stuff is a definite improvement, and surely worth a premium over the stock setup.  If I hadn't done the swaps, I be very tempted to buy this Rosso.  They aren't making any more ...

Yeh, those Ohlins shocks may be superior, but every 25K miles they need to be rebuilt.

Not so sure about the Ohlins rebuild interval.  The set I bought had 60k miles.  I sent the forks and shock to Racetech for a rebuild, and they told me all was well.  They just replaced the seals and set the forks up for my weight.

Just curious, what was so special for you about the Daytona that led you to sell the Corsa?

Quite frankly, I regret selling the Rosso. I was sort of half interested in selling the bike and someone came along with the right price and when he got here I tried my best to get him to not buy it, but he was sold.

The Daytona is a much less refined bike compared to the RC, but if you ever rode them back to back you'd know right away which one is more appealing. Aesthetically, it is at the top of the list of the spine frame bikes, the engine is something else and I actually prefer the five speed over the later transmissions. The downside is of course parts.

Daytona RS vs. a Rosso Corsa.  Good question.  I have the Nero Corsa and Daytona RS.  They're both fun and good rides.  The Daytona is a sportier ride.  The Corsa is a long distance ride.  The Corsa feels more refined while the Daytona has a rougher edge to me.  The Daytona is the power bike.  The Corsa is a smoother ride to me.

NADA and KBB are almost meaningless in the Guzzi world.

There simply are not enough sales for them to establish a market, so they make basic mathematical calculations of depreciation.

Which don't count on a 1 of 50 special edition machine like a Nero Corsa, Rosso Corsa, Coppa Italia, etc...

I've wanted a Nero or Rosso for the longest time, even recently almost purchased a Tenni but given the suspension and other issues, would obviously rather have one of the former.  Unfortunately, now on EBay at $5400 and reserve not met yet, they've already eclipsed what my post Christmas budget could afford  :boozing:

Hmm.  Of course, this is the non-Nero version and would possibly need a new clutch, but any ideas on what his "electrical" issue is/might be?

2003 will not need a clutch, unless it's been abused.  All the 2003 spine-frame bikes had the good dual-plate clutch.

Starting issue?  He implied that it can be bump started, so my 1st guess would be bad starter.

My Nero's starter had one of the magnets come loose and lock it up.  I just grabbed the starter off the Sport 1100 and all was good for my camping trip that weekend on the Nero.

Got a new starter for the Nero the next week, and returned the "loaner" to the Sport 1100.  Quick and easy on Guzzi !
