2007 Moto Guzzi Breva 1100

Howdy People Of The Goose.  I posted previously on the 07 1100 Breva that I propose to buy and got a lot of good info and feedback and thank you all.  There is one important question left in my mind...and understand, this is not a sales pitch.  What is the bike worth in your area....generally.  The seller is asking 4.5K.  I understand there are a lot of 'ifs'....but I am asking a general figure.  As mentioned, it is in pristine condition, as in no scratches or dents, or road grime or usage that has not been maintained.  It has the full (three) hard bad luggage compliment from Guzzi.  Aluminum Mistral exhaust.  Really nice Corbin seat.  2nd owner, serviced at authorized dealer, 12K miles....black & grey.  I am asking this because I am in East Tennessee and we have no Guzzi dealers anymore....nor does Western North Carolina, nor North Georgia.  Looking to go as far as Atlanta or Charlotte, North Carolina for a dealer if needed.  Oh, I forgot to mention, I personally....mysel f....am one of those people that should not do their own wrenching.  My advantage is that I am bright enough to realize it..:)

To indirectly answer your question, it sounds like a fair price. The luggage alone would set you back near 1500 bucks if you were to buy it new. The best way to get a feel for pricing would to search e-bay for completed sales and maybe buy it now prices. I have no idea what the going rate around here would be.

The Miami 06 has an interesting exhaust treatment and I didn't see milage.  I honestly believe this 08 1100 has it beat to death as far as condition and seriously nice gear included.

It sounds like a fair price. I paid more than that by several hundred dollars about a year ago for an 06 Breva from a dealer that I trusted. The bike had new tires, battery, startus interuptus fix, metal fuel pump, fully serviced and just a few little things blems you would expect from a 9 year old bike with 10,500 miles. I have ridden the stew out of it and have not had one problem. IMO it is a lot of bike for the money.

Guuzi Steve is an excellent tech in the Atlanta area and John Z. in Huntsville, AL is an excellent tech and rides an 06 Breva.

Remember in the end it is your job to value the purchase...decide if it is what you really want....because there are many fine Guzzis to choose from and they are for sale all the time....most shippable from across the country for about 350$
His price is within reason.....If I wanted it...I would put $3500 in one pocket  and $500 in my other pocket and pull out the 3500 and lay it on the table...if they say no thanks...then turn and walk...before you offer what's left in your other pocket....if they don't stop you from walking...turn back before you reach your car and lay the rest of it down....then see what happens.

otherwise just buy it and be happy.
Also you may want to read up on maintenance procedures...with no dealer around you should try to perform these yourself...though any Bike shop will be able to handle.

Interesting buying technique, but I really don't play pocket games...I like deals where both people can walk away feeling good if the product is worth the asking price.  If i decide (and part of the decision will be based on response here) I will of course check for 'wiggle room' and will be happy if there is some.  I haven't "pulled the trigger" because I am the only one who knows it is for sale and the only one currently who is involved in a possible sale.  I guess I should have mentioned the seller is wealthy and not a little eccentric.  I am also more than a little eccentric but poor....that is why I am being cautious and trying to learn a bit here.

My 2 cents - that sounds like a LOT of bike for the money!  Nicely optioned!  If the bike looks to be in as good a condition as it sounds, and you feel comfortable with the seller, i'd buy it it today.

I missed a couple of good bikes before i got the one i have, because i was slow to make a decision and they were gone.

Sloan's in Murfreesboro TN if you need an actual dealer.  However, many of the former shops still have knowledge.  And you can buy any maintenance item online thru one of the several good dealers.

I'm not a big "wrencher" either.  However, changing the fluids (all 3) is pretty easy.  I've yet to tackle anything bigger.  I have about 20K on my B1100.  I have about 1/2 of the pads remaining (as far as I can see).  I've never adjusted the valves either.  I used to live in NH and had a reasonable dealer (Seacost Sportcycle) for that service.  I'll probably get to learn this year or so.

Menzie...thanks and that is a very fine offer.  Sloan's looks great, but they do be 219 miles from Gatlinburg...that is a fur piece, but if you need it, it's good to know.

Looks great, price right too.  But just to be clear, I don't believe there was ever such a bike in North America as a 08 Breva 1100.  For 08 they offered the 1200 Sport, no 1100.

Right...I was wondering about the '08 Breva'....some sites showed an 08 and others only to 07....with 1200's being offered in 08.  I saw the bike (b8ut not the paperwork) and  it is badged 1100.  Gonna check the paperwork this morning.

Without seeing the bike, overall this sounds like a B1100 in excellent condition at a very fair price. If you are in the market for the big Breva, this if probably the best deal you are likely to find. I'm in west central NC, and if it was here and you weren't already on the case, I would want to check it out for myself. And I'm not a wrench either, so don't feel alone in that aspect;

FWIW, while it's ridiculous that Moto Guzzi does not have shops in Asheville and Knoxville, most any good BMW shop can and usually will work on Guzzis of this era. The mid '00s are very similar between the Breva and their own R series bikes, both being modern designs but before most of the plastic and complex electronic were added to either. Their techs can perform most basic repairs and maintenance, and, worst case scenario, for an unusual job they may ask you to order any necessary parts and bring it back to them.

Best of luck with the Breva, and again, it sounds like you've made a great find at an excellent price.

So.  Breva was an 07 not an 08 and not a 1200 Sport.  It had close to 15K miles as opposed to  the previously mentioned 12K.  There is a 'slight' oil leak at the front , down below the oil lines, but didn't appear to be leaking at the fittings...at least the ones I could see.  Whatever it is, it leaves a quarter sized puddle after a short run.  Really don't like that.  The tach needle doesn't go below 6, but seems to indicate normally above that.  The neutral light is a bit intermittent and I had to try a few times when rolling slowly to get the bike in neutral.  After i got it on the highway, it seemed normal enough.  Still a heck of a deal unless some really expensive fixes are coming up....like the dreaded instrument cluster replacement.  The owner is more oblivious than cunning...I think...so I really don't suspect trickery.  I'm still thinking it over and a little bummed from the oil leak and the sticking tach.

I agree.  No sense starting off a new-to-you bike purchase with so much doubt about the bike.  I'm not saying this to sour the deal for the seller.  I simply think you'll be happier with a different bike, and the seller may be happier with a different buyer.

Unless you can see a physical reason why the tach doesn't go below 6 (thousand), I'd suspect an electronic one and would worry about replacing the dashboard of which it is a part. Dashboard for Grisos are about $400 now....

That's more than a slight oil leak on a Breva.  Mine has fixed for years in the same general area, I never have puddle of any size no matter how long I ride, I would be Leary.

Thanks...I saw that earlier and it seems a decent deal.  I haven't totally given up on this one yet.  If I could get that oil leak diagnosed and the tach deal fixed and I could be reasonably sure the whole instrument cluster was not on the verge of cluster****, I would still like the bike.  I think the guy is motivated enuf to assist in getting these ops done.

Some of the Breva's to include the 07 I had would leak froma sending unit on the left side above the cylinder and it would look like the head had a leak. It just required a little sealant to fix it.

That is the story I got from the guy who fixed mine.
