Do you think that it will depreciate like most of the newer V7 bikes, or will it retain a higher dollar value?

Thanks, I have a difficult time gauging the long-term value of "limited-edition" bikes.

All you have to do is look at the limited edition prices on used Guzzis. Condition means more than rarity. Take for example a Rosso Mandelo limited edition. It really won't bring a premium over another V11S.

Buy it, don't ride it. Keep it in a collection for 20 years. Then maybe it will still be worth 75%-100% of what you paid. Not a very good return on your "investment". Would've been better off putting the $11k into something else.

If ridden the V7 Stornello will be no different from a V7 Racer or Special as far as "resale value", if that's what you mean by "value".

To me, the value of a motorcycle is in the enjoyment it brings, and utility it provides. Not in how much it costs me over time...

Sounds like I get #14. Probably ruin the collector's value the first time I run up Pole Hill Road.

I know that dealer. He's about 7 miles from my house. He's just about giving away all non current inventory.
He also brought an entire demo fleet to last years WNY Guzzi rally and will be doing so again this year.

First thing I noticed when I opened that link was that the inscribed number on the head stock appears to be painted, not laser cut as advertised on the Guzzi site. Mine will be arriving at the dealer this week. I bought it because it fits my riding style and I love the look. The limited edition status gives tons of upgrades over the standard Guzzi V7 II for only $200 more. Yes, it will depreciate. Even a MV Augusta will depreciate. A V7 Sport will appreciate...but keep in mind, you could buy a mint V7 Sport in 1990 with 4000 miles for $4000. I know, I bought two. If you buy a new bike expecting it to appreciate, you need to wait a long time. Why not just ride it?

What's the deal with the Stornello and the Scrambler??

I saw a paper catalog today that showed the Scrambler as an already-set-up machine for $8900. The Stornello was significantly more. Yet, they looked very much the same.

The USA website shows the Scrambler as a kit you can buy to convert a standard model, at least as best as I can decipher it.

Europsports was at the Norton Gathering yesterday showing the Stornello and Triumph Street Twin.

I didn't get a picture of the exhaust side of the bike with the other bike, and then people in the way. While the high-pipe scrambler thing isn't my thing, it definitely looks good. The red frame with white tank looks very good, though, I think it would look even better with some black accents in the graphics on the tank

These should sell well to the bearded/skinny-jean/flannel crowd.

Is the Special still available? http://www.motoguzzi-us.com only lists V7 Stone, V7 Scrambler, V7 Stornello, and V7 Racer.

The Stone needs some gloss paint options.

It does look really nice! I saw it at the motorcycle show in Hamburg and I was impressed. Some nice parts on it. But.....

.....knowing the V9 engine is out there and having to go with the "old" engine would spoil it a bit for me. I know, the V7 is a good bike, but the feedback on the V9 engine seems really good so far!

Feedback on the 1200 is even better. Why not go with a Griso and get a "real bike" ?

I have a Stelvio. That's what Griso riders get when they grow up!

But if I ever get a small block (and I'm tempted!), it would have to have that v9 engine in there!

I'll just go and hide now ...

Personally, I don't even really get nor like Scrambler versions of bikes in general but that Stornello is right sharp I'd say.

I was having V9 engine envy, but, I rode my V7 Special 285 miles and had so much fun that I forgot that it is a 50 HP weakling.

I think it looks pretty good and that type of bike is generally not my thing.

Like Jay I put a lot of miles on my V7 over the weekend.

I think I realized that for something in the neighborhood of 600 miles in a weekend I need either a bigger windshield or a full face helmet.... At least more than I need a V9 or the like.
