You will be home by then, A. Z. If Judy isn't coming with you, give her Gail and my best wishes.

Which direction are you coming in from, Bill?

Hope to leave Seattle about 8 A.M. and go over Chinook Pass, thru Yakima , South on US97. Crossing the Columbia at Biggs Junction. Thru Condon, Fossil, Spray, Monument, Etc.
If you are in Seattle and want to come with, we could put you up on Wednesday.
I think you have people in Tacoma and we could also liaison in Enumclaw.

Anybody know if Matt Forslund is coming this year with his triple axle 5th wheel mobile Guzzi repair facility? He was a really appreciated at the last National in John Day.  Alex

Matt was packing his trailer today and hoping to leave later today or tomorrow.  He is a great guy and has helped me out on more than one problem, including my current rear drive issue.

Safe travels to my good friends Jim "The Grand Poo-Bah" McDermott (AZ MGNOC Rep), and Andy "Tempe-Farkle-Labs" Barrett who are making the long journey from The Valley of the Sun to John Day!

I wish I was riding with you guys!  Be safe and take lots of photos! :thumb:

Jim will be on his Guzzi and Andy on his Stelvio, I believe!

Then there'll be 2 MuZs there because I'm riding mine to the National.

I'm feeling better hearing that a few folks are riding to the Nationals on something other than a Moto Guzzi. It's almost a 600 mile ride from my house which exceedes my self imposed limit for saddle time on my 1971 Ambassador, so I will be aboard my big black F6B Honda. My plan is to leave early Wednesday morning and spend the night in Burns, then ride the short distance to John Day Thursday morning. Onward!

Yeahoo , in Burns, I like to stay at the Silver Spur on the North end of town. They are motorcycle friendly with outdoor entrances to all the rooms.
The Pastime Saloon is authentic western and has an excellent kitchen staff..

Yes, this is where to stay in Burns for the night.  It's a local motel and far cheaper than all the other chain motels with all the amenities you could want and decent.  I made my reservation for Thursday last night.  :thumb:  Ph. # is 1-800-400-2077.

Taking the long way to get there.  Direct flight Kona to Seattle then to Spokane.  Was able to find a shuttle to Newport, WA that would put me within 30 miles of Sandpoint, ID.  Next day ride down to John Day.  Easiest way otherwise it would have been a flight to Portland overnight then Amtrak to Sandpoint.  Reversing the process is different.  "Planes, trains & automobiles".

No.  I left it with that one year.  Lost track of him.  He and Barb separated.  He moved out and has not answered any of the v-mails that I left him.  He offered to sell his Jackal to me the last time I stayed with them.  Not sure why he was getting out of it.  When I recontacted him to take him up on it.  No answer.  Not sure what's happening with him.  Barb is still at the house.  Bob moved to Coeur 'd Alene.  I think he fully retired.

I'm looking at a quick ride :bike-037: up to meet Rodekyll and deliver him a care package - likely either Thursday or Friday, Friday perhaps being more likely. Any suggestions on where to find a room for a night, since (who'da thunk it?) Guzzisti appear to have sold out John Day's hotels?

Unfortunately, I can no longer camp since I have developed a full blown anaphylactic allergy  to fire ants and possibly some other stinging things, so my options are more limited  :undecided:

Red Lodge tonight.  Hooked up with Chuck & Dorcia from Indiana.  Also Bob N.?? From Shell Rock Iowa.  We all diverge paths tomorrow, though we all ride Bears tooth.  I'll be heading north towards Glacier. They head south or west. All meeting again in a few days.
Life is a trip.

I've camped @ John Day and there are no fire ants or insects to worry about.  It ain't Texas.    I'm allergic to bee/hornet stings so you are not alone.  Rk has a BIG tent so maybe he can put you up.

I hope to bring the VW van tent, which is the general dimensions of a VW van.  It's plenty big enough for you, me, and our vehicles.

I'm kind of jealous that so many are on the way already.  I can't leave till morning, then need to get back quickly.  It'll be 395 the whole way with an overnight in Susanville.  At least I'm not coming through central Nevada like Arizona Wayne.

We're (2 - V11 Lemans) leaving Thursday morning via back roads through Wa. to Biggs Junction for the night, then on to JD Friday. The forecast for Thursday is rain until we cross the Cascades and then rain in JD Friday .

Shawn and I are leaving Wednesday early, Cascades, Winthrop Pateros to Moses Lake
then on to JD the next Day

By the way, when we were in John Day a couple of years back we happened into the Polaris dealership for a clutch lever, they were most helpful and the owner Byron put us up on his farm for the night, just putting in a good word for them.

Bike is packed and ready to go. Excited! I plan to leave El Dorado Hills early tomorrow morning (Wednesday), pick up I-80 to go over the Sierra Nevada Mountains to Reno and US-395 north.  Hope to have lunch in Alturas at the Auction Yard Cafe (ride to eat, eat to ride). Overnight in Burns at the Silver Spur Motel and dinner at the Central Pastime (Thanks Bill).  Thursday morning will be the short ride from Burns to John Day where I will be staying at the Budget 8 motel. See you all at the Fairgrounds, I'm looking forward to meeting the Wildguzzi clan!
