I wonder where that leading link fork came from?

Otherwise, well executed!  They guy had a unified idea and ran with it.

I think that is a beemer front end with a different coil over shock and all of the shrouds removed .

Agreed.

Now that my eyes have adjusted , I do believe those are the stock coil overs minus the shrouds .

With all the chrome and the shrouds removed that fork is not recognizable.  I'm assuming that's a /2?  Anyone know the fork tube diameter?

It has too much of my least favorite color-chrome. Then again so does my EV...and its still a slash 2.

Kinda cool, but it looks more like a show bike than a rider. The tank looks very small for one thing--I'd think the range is less than 100 mi. Also, even on a vintage bike I'd want some turn signals.

Yes, the diameter of the top section tubes.

Don't want to guess . A quick check with Bench Mark Works might tell something . The problem is that the BMW forks stick way out to the rear , not sure they will clear on a Tonti . BMW angled the front frame downtubes to get clearance . The Earle's design won't fit on later model beemers for this reason .

I was looking at that back angle on the frame and how closely it matched the angle of the fork.  You are right -- probably too extreme for the tonti downtube.

Met a guy riding one of those back in the mid 70's in Cali, he had 260,000 miles on it!

Yes, the diameter of the top section tubes.

The tubes are oval-sectioned, so how do you measure diameter? ;-)

Well, you find the center of the elipse, multiply by pi, carry the aught, and  . . . . nevermind.  I have no clue.

I didn't know they were ovoid.  Good thing there's another reason they don't fit or I'd be looking ignorant right now.

Aren't those the wrong forks for a '50?

If you mean because they were tubes and not Earles , no the aren't the wrong forks . BMW only used the Earles design from 1955 until 1969 , and even then not on all models .

Someone took about $15,000 worth of R69 and turned it into $4000 worth of shiny & ugly bits. Looks like most of the bike is authentic. Proper headlight, tins and tank and a clean up and the builder could have bought about 10 running Hondas to carve into "art" from the proceeds.

What makes you believe it was an R69 . If you are correct , the builder should be put in stocks
