It may sell well, but it could have been done better, though it would cost Yamaha a few more shekels I guess.

The only obvious flaws I see are, the rake of the forks is too much, and 2.8" of rear travel claimed!

Yeah. The scrambler version has a new (higher) seat subframe. Too bad they didn't relocate the upper shock mounts and put longer travel shocks on the scrambler. Strange. 2.8" of travel sucks, no matter how nice the shocks are.

My newfound fondness for small, light motorcycles keeps me from being interested in this 546 lb model. One of the new Yamaha FJs or FZs is way closer to something I'd enjoy riding. The FZ-07 is just under 400 lbs. wet with 20+ hp more.

The XSR900 just looks odd to me, but sat on one after a fellow CB1100 bought one (he loves it!) and ergo's seemed good. Once in the cockpit the bike was attractive so I dared not ride it.

I agree about the looks being horrible. It's the light weight and power that is reasonable.

I get a kick out of the tag/turn signal mounts that the manufacturers make so they're just enough to pass government requirements, but very easy to remove once the bike is sold.

I think the bike looks a lot better than some of the creations featured in this post, which almost seem an exercise in ugly.

However several things that I don't like immediately caught my eye.
Bent down tubes (frame) These may be OK but to my eye they don't look as though they should be.
The 'racing' number place on the side panels. An affectation I find distasteful. Don't like it on the V7 racer either.
Petrol tank looks too small, both from an aesthetic and range point of view.
'Kicked up' rear sub-frame. Not pleasing aesthetically and needlessly restricts passenger comfort and luggage attachment.
Too heavy.
Seat height is too high.

No, if I was in the market I wouldn't be going for that one.

The following pic is a Yamaha which may not even exist at this point. I think it is only a concept. In many ways I think it is a more pleasing machine.

With a bigger (and lower slung) engine, a rear guard... in fact turning it into a 'universal road motorcycle' they may have something here.

My understanding is the Bolt series has been a success for Yamaha nee Star MC's . The scrambler will probably sell , we aren't the target audience .

Beauty in the eye of the beholder.... as they say...
The scram-bolt-er has potential but seems like a poser in its stock form. The triple , on the other hand is pretty exciting looking.
The scram-bolt-er will not sell well is my guess....I would still like to have some time in the saddle and get a real test.
Just looking at the scrambler market I would want the stornello and spend money on it to get it sorted out or the BMW 9-T scram...both because of the lump powering them seems to fit my style.

I think it's a cute enough little scooter and I'm really quite past worrying over the "Scrambler" moniker following scrambler function. just like I no longer chafe at the mis-used "muscle car" term.

On this one, while I like so much of it, I don't think I could ever get used to the, 70's chopper, cobbed-up-compromise of that ridiculous bend in the frame members.

Then too, looking at it, if they wanted to tap into Yama-retro - they should have gone even more TT/SR/XT and used one of the designators as well.
