Isn't worth a dime. The coils are missing. No front turn signals. Seat, shocks, and tank are shot (literally!). Rear tire needs replaced. Electrical tape on the starter wire. Headlight is totally out of commission. Nah, not worth a dime.

So, exactly where is this located again?

This is just incredible, to find a V7 Sport just sitting out there... A real "Outside the Barn Find"... crazy...

A T-3 that I dragged home back in the Spring, gathering parts from the rebuild right now. Still not the marque that the Sport is.

My Saturday 100 mile off road loop turned into a 160 mile out and back when we hit snow that had been packed down and turned into ice. Slow going and too many near falls with 10 miles to the summit we (for once) made a good decision to turn around and go back. Than on the way home I was one of the first to the scene of a single vehicle accident. An hour later I was on my way home......late. Had to unload the dirt bike and gear, load the trials bike and gear for the Sunday trials ride. I need a good hour or two after trials riding so I just got the chance to call the owner and he agreed to $500 (multiple offers at this price). Gave the owners phone number to the first one to reply. Who also happened to live somewhat close by. Hopefully we will see a build thread here soon. Too big of a project for me and I have no desire to part it out or flip it. Just happy to see it get roadworthy again.

I also found out that you need to wait at least a minute between PMs. Most likely to help prevent spam.

Redo cables, electrics as needed, cover the seat in old Levi denim, give it tires, make it run great and ignore the rest. The shotgun divots just add character.

The tires are good "slight usage". Rolling around in the garage, keeping it on the center stand, rolling down the street to see if the drivetrain works, etc. Not high speed use going across a couple of states.

Still a lot there for $500 if I read Caffeineo's post correctly. (correction to name spelling)

You read it right. 3 offers of $500 so I talked to the owner (nice guy that has had some hard times) and he was happy with $500 but also interested in getting something to replace it as he views it as "art". I think with a good restoration it would be "art" that could be a nice piece for the living room.

My feeling too. It looks eminently re-buildable to me but it needs to happen, or at least the rot has to stop, in the near future. I'm not sure I would have offered a whole $500 though! If Art is all the fellow wants a dead Honda 50 should fill the bill. Straight swap plus maybe $50 as a starter? After all the current owner obviously doesn't care about it as a machine.

When you look at this machine part by part, starting with those unworn foot rest rubbers working out to those alloy rims, there is plenty to work with.

I faced a situation like this when some years ago I was rebuilding a 1953 500 RE Bullet. I stumbled across a dead 350 Bullet of the same era. It had been stored about 200 yards from the sea and prevailing salt laden air. It's spokes were 1/4 inch thick flaked rust and it was touch and go whether this machine could ever sensibly be rebuilt.

There were however parts on it that were worthy of rescue. I was particularly interested in its far superior (double sided) front brake.

The owner though was an oddball farmer who's 'thing' was that he had something I wanted. (there may have been some history there dating back to the Great Depression) Nothing was going to change that. Nothing reasonable anyway.

I checked up on it about a year later. It had moved out from under it's roof and was lying on it's side in a paddock. It had deteriorated to the point of uselessness. I told the guy to enjoy his anchor as I left.

IMO, that was a bargain. If it was parted out (not that I'm advocating that), you could easily quadruple your "investment".
