Attaching seat on a T3

I want to eliminate the grab bars on my T3. The seat is attached at the rear to the grab bars. After eliminating the bars, how do I hold the seat down at the rear and still be able to raise it up to get underneath? Swoosh Dave, I see you did this. How did you do it? I imagine there is more than one way to skin a cat here so anyone that has done this, please comment. I'm open to all suggestions.

I think someone said my old seat and bracket are from a G5/T5?

1st Generation G5 and/or 1st Generation Convert - the ones that have the rectangular taillight with cowling.

I'd probably just cut the grab rail portion of the seat mount/grab rail off. I can show you what I mean if it's not clear and I have another grab rail if you don't want to cut yours.

On my t3, I cut the rear loop off leaving about a 3/4"" or so stub on each side and put black plastic caps over the cut off ends. It looks like it came that way and also leaves the horizontal grab bar in place to help put it on the center stand or to attach bungees to if you are carrying something on the passenger part of the seat. It looks and works good, and took about 5 minutes.

I cut and capped the rails. You can see it fairly well in this picture. Is something like that what you are wanting to do?
