Leave that alone and just lift the tank a little if you have to. All additional wire connectors are up front under the plastic cover on the front of the tank. More on that in a second.
The side covers have a screw under the eagle, which will likely end up with broken tabs upon removal. That will require buying a set of eagles to put back on the tank.
So, for the front cover, remove the two screws on the top piece, take the gas cap off and move that piece backwards to release the pin from the hole in the back. There are a couple Allen heads down low in the plastic piece and a phillips screw around the steering neck. Then there are some plastic expansion pins down lower. Pop the center of those out and then you can lift the two pieces out from behind the steering neck. Wire access is there. The plugs for the fogs are on the right side, but the feed connector is on the left. The factory plug is also switched so those lights go off with the high beams. IIRC, there is a switched, but always on wire when key is on, in that plug. I used it for a feed to an SAE connector for powering my GPS. Since I did the factory lights, everything was plug and play. I probably spent more time routing the wires than I did connecting them together.
For something, ah I remember, a USB, and lighter outlet, that I wanted always on even with the key off, I was able to use a fish tape and get a wire from the front to the back to the battery. That way, I'm able to charge things when the bike is sitting if I need to. (Cell phone for instance.)
