Carefully pluck the old one out, drive the new one in.
I made a tool out of some plastic plumbing pipe to drive it in.

I assume you have confirmed that is the leak? Mine wasn't. Mine was the gasket around the bearing carrier.

Ok, oil on the ring gear sounds like maybe seal. Seeps out on to the flywheel and gets flung all over the place.
My gasket leak just dribbles out the bottom if I over fill it

if it smells like gear lube it's coming from the tranny up the clutch push rod.

If you just let it leak, then every 2000 miles you'll have done a complete oil change!  :boozing:

As mentioned, make sure it isn't transmission lube first. There are many places it could be engine oil. Another common and simple fix is the breather hose.

One quick check is to pop the timing plug and see if I can find fluid on the front of the flywheel and engine side bellhousing.  That would indicate engine oil.  If it's on the back of the flywheel and clutch (might have to pull the starter for a good look) then assume transmission grease.  This check is not 100% accurate and works best before there's so much oil flinging about that it's on both sides.

Another way to sort the type is to collect some fluid from the drip on a q-tip (or similar wick) and burn it along with samples of engine and tranny fluids like a redneck mass spectrometer.  The flame will look and smell like the matching sample.  If it doesn't, it's both.

I'm have an external auditor in the house this week, but when I saw "redneck mass spectrometer" I had to give you props.

Thanks for that technique, I will remember.

It could be coming from the cam plug, many leak from there so when the flywheel is off clean it well and put on your favorite sealant, cover the dern  thing with J B weld, Proseal etc. avoid silicone. it'ks an item to do anytime the transmission is off.

If you do change the seal be aware there is no bottom out when driving/pressing it in. The result is you can insert it, the seal, too far and then block an oil passage. I did this myself but realised my mistake before doing any catastrophic damage. Only my pride was hurt and I had to wait an extra week to repair it.

Good luck!

Another source of oil in this area is the crankcase vent return hose.  It connects to a tube at the top of the bell housing.  It oil can leak out of the connection and run into the clutch area.  I found this to be the source of the oil in my bike clutch area.  I did replace the seals in tranny and rear main while in there though.

Orwig fixed mine and it wasn't the main seal.  It was the rear cover gasket.

get some seal conditioner pour in motor and ride.  I think p205 at napa. but not sure on that # but they got it.
since the bike hasn't been far since you got it running maybe the seal just needs a little living up!
Cheap try before tearing it all down again.
I did that on Rusty for along time before tearing it down. Made it to 91000 probably started leaking at 60000
