Thanks FG,  I agree .  Not crazy about the 80's styling .  Still looks like an interesting  low mile example. Bet it looks better in the flesh. Still a lot of plastic. Wish I were closer to have a look.

Looks nice, but the ad is short on info and the price is premium without some added info/value.
I'd let that one go by unless your dream is a LMIV.

If anyone is that worried about that sixteen inch wheel, you can always mount a taller front tire.

Wheels have been repainted on this one. the side of the rim should be silver/natural. I like that 80's styling.

Really like the one in your photo Steph

I've (as many know) got a Magni version.

The engine and box once sorted are really great and being a Tonti it will handle. I'm forever amazed that they do given the unsprung weight they carry.

I don't like the styling but that can be sorted, even at premium price it's a great motorcycle for the money

Just my 2 Cents

Wheels have been repainted, the 16" front wheel helps turn in.   Priced at *least* one large too high.

I like the style but love the ride even more! I have logged just over 32,000 miles on mine in the past 20 or so years. I'd say the price is on the high side but imagine value will go up as the years go by but for me it;s the thrill of the ride!

Though you can never go wrong with a white Le Mans IMO, but for that price, I'd consider taking a look at this one:

More distinct color scheme specific to 1989, also only year that seat was used + 18" wheel if that's what you are aiming for.
https://greenville.craigslist.org/mcy/6547661176.html

Or, if you just want a nice plain classic model:
https://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/mcy/6488511347.html

or, if you plan in changing it up anyway, then maybe this will give you some $ flex room to do what you want with it, which I've listed as the 3rd option here, but now I'm thinking it may be the better option..
https://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/mcy/6549145088.html

On this last one, I can't tell 100%, but it looks like the front wheel has been converted to an 18". You can always change that back to a 16" and make it right

I'm not affiliated with these sellers. Good luck.

It's interesting that three Le Mand IV/V models show up currently on various Craigslist postings, all at the $6,500 price point. The Le Mans 1000 (IV and V) have long been the bargain among the Tonti-framed Le Mans models. Even at $6,500, they remain lower than any decent Le Mans 850, Le Mans II (or CX100) and Le Mans III I've seen recently. Maybe they are finally getting a bit more respect? Hope so, I treasure mine.

6K for complete bike that runs well is fair. That looks ok in the photo but don't they all! The LeMans 1000 is an awesome bike to ride and you aren't likely to park next to another.

Dave,

At some point it's not whether the bike is worth it,

But whether the Mrs. will notice the new cycle in the garage.

Just sayin....

Dave,

I moved the bikes around in my shed, and She accused me of buying more, because "it looked different!"

The one on Greenville CL was sold here in Colorado last summer for about $4500.  The owner told me that the non stock fairing was the result of the previous owner rear ending a car.  He said the original fairing was damaged, but that the forks were straight.  I decided against it.

My 1989 Lemans just hauled me through some pretty hairy crosswinds over 500 miles today.

Awesome bike,

I also love the styling, ne'er was there a more ugly/beautiful bike

and I actually retrofitted a 16inch wheel to mine

just saying!

The one in Colorado looks like a great deal! It's a lot like mine, including the 18" front wheel, except for the color.

I got my 87 Nov 2016 with 24K on the clock - now 35K. I can't stop riding it. it gets excellent mileage, runs strong and handles well. I love the sound, but already I've repacked the Bubs twice and it might be due again. Seems like six or seven K and they're blown out. I'm thinking of getting some non glass pack mufflers - maybe even a full stainless system.

Thanks Lannis...since this photo was taken last year I have removed the bags and front Euro turn signals and placed them in storage. I have since put a Hepco Becker rear rack on the bike and trying it "stripped" down for a change of pace.

Thank's for all the replies. Thank you Groover for the additional listings, a little hesitant to buy a vintage bike I can't put my hands on first. The one in Vermont at least I could check out and I do like the white models. The owner is supposed to call me tonight with more info. I'll be sure to pass it along. I tend to agree it seems a bit overpriced but I realize that's very subjective. It's what it's worth to you right?  Stay safe everyone  :thumb:

I think the price is close enough if that is the one you like and is closest to you. Getting the further one agreed is more risky, you have to pay shipping or expense to go pick it up, then you get a new seat, mufflers, whatever, then the cheaper bike just became more expensive in no time.

Personally, I think that white one looks really good. I just play devil's advocate sometimes.

I agree - the LM 1000 isn't the sexiest, but you know what? I forget about all that in the saddle when she turns into the sexiest thing on the road.

Someday I'll probably make over the back end of the bike. But for now I'm too busy riding.

One thing to consider is making a friendly offer of what you'd be willing to spend on the bike. When someone lowballs me with the approach that 'this is bad' 'that's bad' and it's only worth such and such - I move em on. But if the guy is friendly about it, maybe I won't sell it for that price, but maybe I'll make a counter offer. Who knows? Perhaps he's been trying to sell for a while now and just found THE bike he's always wanted (for a great deal) and needs the money NOW! And then you show up, and he passes the savings on to you. There were times I had no money to spend, but wanted the bike - instead of deciding it was no use even thinking about it, I got in touch with the seller. One time when I did that, the seller told me I had a bunch of stuff he was willing to trade for, so take it home with me now and we'd settle up in three weeks when he got back from Europe. He felt safer with the bike at my place than in his open garage. Magic happens

Other times, I've made agreements to make payments on time. It always worked out.

My LM1000 is also white. It's my third white bike and kinda like it that way. The white ones are supposed to be rather scarce.

When the importer was located at Midway Cycles in Lillington, the parts guy told me that the white ones were so unpopular compared to the red ones that dealers were told that to get a red one they had to take a white one.
