What's Making You Smile Today? Share And Spread The Joy!
« on: April 06, 2018, 02:25:46 PM »
No matter how small if it made you smile, laugh, grateful, pleased, don't keep it to yourself, share.  You might bring a much-needed smile to someone else's day.

I'm grateful for WG and all here who impact my life in a positive manner on a daily basis.  Our life may have its issues but by in large, we are blessed.

1) It's Friday!

2) My Nephew is one week closer to completing his radiation therapy. Only 3 more weeks to go.

3) Rumour has it spring is coming! Wouldn't know it though... it's -20 today.

4) Life, for all it's punches on the chin, is pretty damn good.
Old enough to say I've done it, young enough to do it again.

The wife and I just stopped for an overnight at Rolla, MO. We are in the car thank God since it is miserable outdoors. Taking the long backroads round about way to St. Louis. to explore future riding roads. Have complementry concert and and backstage passes to Little Big Town and Kacey Musgrave tomorrow night.

Wow, not much makes WG smile.

I've got brand new sheets and my baby girl is sharing them with me tonight.  The crash bars for Gigi and my new, hopefully small enough helmet will arrive on Wednesday.  :thumb:  Oh, my hot flashes are only keeping me up half the night!

Hmmmm, it’s been mentioned but it’s friday! Looking foreward to a day in the woods on the KTM Sunday. I have so many things to smile about and be thankful for I can’t even type them all. Warm weather is right around the corner, Arkansas roads are 50 miles south and the LeMans III has new sticky tires!

Back to work on Monday and do it all over again!

Rock on Guzzi Gal!!

1)  The recruiter from the U.S. Job Corps used our conference room today for recruitment when he left he told me that all 7 applicants were accepted into the program provided that they finish the paperwork involved.  It will change their lives.   :thumb:

2)  In the morning, I went to a community meeting of 15 non-profit social service agencies in the Kona area.  Turns out 3 of them need help with recruiting applicants for their job openings.  I gave them my contact info to help them.   :thumb:

3)  At the same meeting, I met an attorney that works for the Disability Rights Organization.   :thumb:  I need more ammo from her to advocate with the local Target store.  WalMart hires the disabled and makes the adjustments to help them to gainfully employed.   :thumb:

4)  I closed the day with 6 employers that needed help with the Employment Training Fund.  The program pays for 50% of tuition for classes at the community college to upgrade the skills of their employees.  12 in this case.   :thumb:

Busy day but I have more than one smile for today.

Well, I'm smiling if the Job Corps has changed since my first job, working at a state park.   To the Job Corps guys, it was all just a box to be checked to get their monthly money ... I'd be working, clearing trails and cleaning campground bathrooms, and they'd be sitting around smoking and joking and laughing at me for doing all the work ... if it's turned into something useful, that's worth a smile in anyone's book.   It was a "piss you off" candidate at the time!   Good on yer for doing it right.

Bigger smile is that my son came to visit last night, his family is at the beach and he had to work, so he's here and since it's raining, he's volunteered to help me in the shop today!   Lord knows I need the motivation sometimes, I tend to bite off more than I can chew and the shop needs a ton of work to get organized and cleaned up.

Next to the first ride on new tires on a bike, stepping into a clean well-organized shop is one of the best of life's little pleasures ....

Got to spend some time with my lovely daughter this week.  She's about to graduate high-school, and she's got a great head on her shoulders. . .no thanks to me.  I only get to see her a few times throughout the year, so it's never enough.  I get to zip down to Nashville next month to watch her graduate.

Acquired a great new set of KEF speakers.  I'll be spending this chilly weekend hanging out with the pups and listening to music.  Fantastic sound- my first experience with a true co-axial.  I studied them pretty hard back when they were $600.  Amazon's got them now @$249 as they're being phased out for a newer model.

not my setup, but a good pic.

That's the old Job Corps.  The new/current is more like a Vo-Tech boarding school.  The young people have to be 18-22 age
GED is available but they have to apply.  Live on campus and have training in carpentry, cooking, auto tech and office tech.
They get room/board plus an allowance stipend.  They have 2 campuses in Hawaii and live in dormitories.  Airfare and ground transportation provided.  It's kind of like the military but for job skills.  They also help with placement after graduating. Counseling is also included.  Alcohol/drug free environment for learning. They're not part of a minimum wage labor battalion.
