Yup, hoses are like tires. They perish with time, even if they're just sitting on a shelf. Which do you want -- good, or cheap? Check the prices of hose rated for EFI and E10+. That's the good stuff, and it's not cheap. But it beats riding down the highway on a flaming bike. I've been using Gates. 5/16 is as good as 8mm for the hoses. You may need to heat the end in boiling water to get it over the spigot barb.
I had the hardest time finding hose for the petcock to pump. I couldnt find the metric size, and the next size US was just too big.
Thanks for the good words, guys. The herd appears to have thinned a little, and it's good to see who of the old crowd remains. I've spent the - learning how to take hummingbird pictures. So there will be photography.
Are you still using the same set-up for your astronomy shoots? Those aurora shots were fabulous.
Oh, there was nothing hard about that according to a self claimed photography guru at the time. All you have to do is wave the camera around with a motor drive running..
It's been a while since I last did an f.i. Cali, but I remember sourcing that 12 mm (?) hose from a BMW (auto) parts supplier.
This is the type of thread that’s beneficial to all of us. Hats off to the author 👍After reading this thread it made me aware that my 02 Stone is approaching 20 years old, therefore probably a good idea to check the condition of my hoses. Surprisingly mine has the outward appearance of like new rubber. Therefore unless there is a concern for inside deterioration or breakdown, I guess I’m good to go. If there are concerns of unseen likely hose damage, hopefully some of you more informed folks on the subject will chime in. Dan/Danny
Perhaps they were already replaced? There's a date code printed on the hose, that should tell you if they're original or not.
-- 30mm and wider to 14mm, and 2.8 or faster. My new addition to the lens set is a 200-400 Nikon 4.0 zoom for wildlife. T
