I forget the company's name. One of the owners was Mitch..... Located in a strip mall next to a restaurant with a nice salad bar.
Enjoyed my time there. Nice place that I would be happy to live in.

I just fixed the picture links and they show up now. I guess prime photos has some kind of time or bandwidth limit or???

Well, I made it down and back yesterday. Beautiful day for a road trip. 18 1/2 hours and 999 miles total. Jim, the guy who had it, is quite a character. He has a great light fixture on his garage made out of the front 1/2 of a Sachs moped. The v7 is as bad as it looks in the pictures, but the important parts are, surprisingly, mostly there. I have a lot of the minor parts that are missing in my loop frame and Tonti frame parts stashes. Southern Idaho is very dry, so there isn't too much rust. The fenders and tool boxes are in very good shape with only 2 minor dents. The wheels are really nice. The tank definitely needs some work. I pulled the spark plugs and they look really good and smelled like an engine should. There are no broken fins on the cylinder heads. The tranny and final drive have oil in them. The headlight, seat and pan are total junk. The rear wheel is locked up. I suspect the final drive is bad and is why the guy abandoned it. The bores are not magnetic so are probably the chrome ones. I soaked the whole thing down with Move It and squirted quite a bit of Marvel Mystery Oil into the cylinders. I cleaned out a bunch of wasp nests, weeds, sand etc, from it's long lean against the fence. It was slowly sinking back into the earth. The tires held air! The frame numbers and engine number match. The prefix is VK. I am holding off on going very far with disassembly until I find out if the state patrol wants me to bring it in as is, first. I will pull off the rear wheel first to try to see why it won't roll. My wife went to California for a week to visit grandkids, and when she gets back, there will be a camera again. Si

Could be a "grenaded" u-joint. That locks them up pretty solid. Or brake shoes stuck onto the drum.

Got the rear wheel to turn. The brakes were frozen on. The Move It is loosening a bunch of stuff already. I keep squirting and lightly tapping with a dead blow hammer and things are starting to wake up. I see we have another junk v7 sport on the forum as well. How cool is that? Hopefully this week I can get some info from the state regarding the title.

I got my paperwork from the nice lady at the auditor's office and an appointment with the WSP for November 30th to inspect the bike. They only come up here to the hinterlands twice a month. The bike needs to be as assembled and complete as possible for the inspection. If I understand it correctly, I then should be able to get a "provisional title" that would turn into a normal title in 3 years. In the meantime, it can be registered and ridden. The lady at the office ran the numbers and they all came up clean, so she thought the WSP appointment will be pretty routine. I'll let you know how that all turns out. In the meantime, I keep spraying Move It on it, and things are loosening up.

I spent an hour or so out in the shop before supper. All the brakes are now freed up and the levers feel normal. The clutch disengages and feels good and the throttle cables and slides have even freed up. It was so encouraging, I got the timing plug off and stuck a screwdriver in the hole for the biggest test of all. The engine turned over and felt good. It is tempting to clean the carb bowls and try to start it, but I don't know if that would be wise or not. Probably better to not chance running the chrome liners through the oil system.
One of the tool boxes doesn't have a lock and just flops open. The other has a lock. Of course there are no keys. I really would like to see what is inside. Does any one have a tip on how to get it open without wrecking it?

IMO, it would not be wise to start it. The chance of damaging something is good and what will it really accomplish.

For the toolbox, you might be able drive the hinge pin out and remove the lid.

I finally tracked down the penetrating oil you were referring to. It's called Lloyd's Moovit, and it is indeed made in Canada. Strange that I've never heard of it before.

Good to hear that DMV in WA will give you a conditional title. Kind of like a title with a surety bond. If it turns out to have a bad history then you forfeit the bike but with them running the VIN and getting a "go". You should be okay.

For all the years it spent out in the weather, below 0 winters, 100+ summers, rain, snow and you are managing to get things moving.

They just don't build things like they used to.

I was able to get the hinge pin out. Thanks for the suggestion. Inside I found a little bit of sand and a rusty nut and washer. At least the mystery is solved. The lock is pretty trick. Does anybody know if it interchanges with any other locks? Those tool boxes are in really great shape. Nice and straight. I'm definitely not going to try to start it. I'm really anxious to start disassembly, but have to wait until the state patrol does their thing.
I guess I have been spelling Moovit wrong the whole time. I never really paid that much attention to the label. About 12 or so years ago I was coming into New Denver BC from Kaslo on my t3. Just as I was entering the downhill 25km curves, my front tire instantly deflated and I got launched. I was able to push it down the hill into town, and a friendly PetroCan station attendant let me disassemble the bike inside the shop, so I could fix it. He lent me a can of Moovit to take things apart and I was instantly hooked. I bought a couple cans and have been smuggling it across the border ever since. We legalized pot a couple years ago. Maybe we can legalize Moovit! I don't know what is so magical about it, but it sure works good.
