I have a 2025TT, and I've been ridding around for hundreds of miles with the wrench on, no limp mode.   My dealer told me the wrench will come on, but it has no effect what so ever on the motorcycle.  As noted it can't be turned off by the end user, but my dealer said they will turn it off any time I like for free.   He says he told MG, that not allowing the owners to turn off the wrench was a bad move, but they still have not done away with it.

No annual subscription to use the device. IIRR you get a year of software updates for free, after that you pay the subscription if you want them. Also it can be used on multiple bikes with no extra fees, many you have to pay for a license for each bike.

Thanks for the info Tom. Have the updates been helpful? Will you pay the subscription for future updates? My Triumph software is tied to my VIN, so it's only good for that bike. My BMW software is good for any BMW, similar to your Guzzi device.

Thanks for verifying. The service advisor at my local dealer said they charge $50 to reset the service light, and only do it on Saturdays. Just out of principle I'll probably get a Duonix or OBDStar. It'll cost me more $$ but at least I won't be giving it to the jerks at my dealer. Besides, I'll need it to check and clear any codes and flush the ABS, etc.

Like for instance I helped with one bike and I couldn't access the dash. Looked up on OBD's
web site and found that it will not access the dash. So....Maybe an update would change that in the future????????

So.....If I was just working on MY bike and it was working fine and had the free updates for a
 year, I would likely get the last update before the free expires and be done.

Keep good maintenance records and put a piece of white tape over the wrench. Mine has been on for 20k plus miles, I just don't see it anymore.

As it so happened, I planed to update my OBDStar the same day as JHBettsSr asked about the subscription for updates.

My subscription was running out in about a week, so I did the update/upgrades (seem to remember both words being used and in the device it's upgrades). Not hard, but it seemed like I had to do the download and it installed, but when I open a program in it, it needed another download. Not a big deal, but I don't have WiFi where I use it so I have to remember to do everything when I have WiFi.

So was "THIS" upgrade worth it......YES!! Enough that I paid for a 1 year subscription fee for update/upgrades.

Originally it covered most Guzzi's from about the V7I to IIRR V100 (but limited there). This upgrade added just about ALL FI bikes. It now covers my 2004 EVT which it did not before. There is a download on the OBDStar site that gives you a list of supported bikes and what the support is for, engine, dash and ABS. Some seem to have added the dash, but not sure.

After hooking up to my EVT, to be honest, it would NOT be worth buying it to use on it. Guzzidiag is a much easier interface to work with and it appears to show more sensors than OBDStar does, still need to play with it more. Also unless I didn't see it, it can't adjust the CO trim which Guzzidiag can.

The biggest thing lacking with it, is documentation on what all the functions do. They have a manual for it, but it's about how to setup and use the device, not what the functions do. Like for instance on a V7III I can reset the service light, but there is another function to reset the odometer. I really want to know what that does BEFORE I press the button. I think it "may" reset the service interval??? Don't know.

It's just plain stupid of Piaggio to do this and make it a requirement to visit a dealer to get it reset unless you spend hundreds to have the ability to do it yourself and further risk interfering with your bikes computer. Imagine if automakers took this approach: I can reset the service light on all my vehicles (and my Indian Challenger) in a matter of seconds. Shouldn't be any different for a Moto Guzzi, a brand that has an average of 1.48 dealers per state (maybe even less at the rate they're closing down these days). People don't want to ride for hours and pay a dealer just to do this. It's a ploy to get dealers to service the bikes to make more profit, which I understand, but when you're a sparse as Guzzi dealers are, it's just not a good policy practice. People may be more apt to ride 30 minutes to a dealer and pay $50 for this service as opposed to 4 hours or so. Just my $.02

I agree that is is silly to not be able to reset the service wrench but it is hardly noticeable so it can stay where it is.
I keep record of my service intervals anyways and have never depended on a dash indicator to tell me when to do it on any vehicle.

This is nothing new. The service wrench on my 2011 Triumph has been on since the second oil change. Dealer did the first one. I agree its a dumb move by all concerned but with a world now filled with tort lawyers I am not surprised.

Not sure how many people here have an UpMap, but on the E5 Aprilias (same 11MP ECU as the E5 Guzzis) they're able to clear the wrench icon. I'm hoping that functionality will be added for us too...

My '23 v85 travel wrench light came on recently, I have to look hard to see it.  I'm used to the tpms light "on" too, waiting on a new module, shoulda just left that unpluged.

Yeah, it would be nice if a program (update) by MG could be loaded so we can clear the wrench light/turn it off ourselves.  Or an inexpensive obdII type of thing for the wrench light cancel and read/clear other diagnostics.

I hope somebody comes up with a way to turn it off, not for me, but for you guys suffering OCD. 
Hell, all of my Guzzi's since my 07 B1100 have had the wrench icon, and I could even turn it off myself on the Breva, but I just left it, as I couldn't be bothered to turn it off.  It is a bit more intrusive on the V85, and I assume the V100, as the TFT gives it to you in color.  Good luck fellas.
