With the 2 adapter cables included with the the device you were able to reset the service on your E5?

If so, this is different than the V7III not II's that I HAD to connect to the MGMP (??) cable that lives between the battery and rear fender.

Hi Tom
I just checked which plug I used.  It is the MT04-1 and plugs into a connector that is located next to the ECU under the seat.  Bonus- the scanner was powered by this plug, so I didn't need to connect the leads to the battery.  I'll admit I'm pretty new to bikes with computers, so I'm not sure what the MGMP is or what it looks like. My others are pre-computer Yamahas and a very crusty older Vespa.

Good luck!

Tom

Wait - V7II? Or did you mean V7III?

I thought the V7II still used the old dash like the V7C or the MkI V7 series like my Stone. On them you didn't need a tool for the reset.

You can rent a Duonix 2 here https://www.ebay.com/itm/136113516799 to reset your light for probably less than the cost of a dealor.

Place is in Stevens Point , WI   might be worth it if in IL

I just looked and confirmed the Icarsoft unit comes with the MT-04 adaptor he used to reset the service light.

Kev M, I meant the V7III not the II. Slight type.

So the red tip cable will do the E5's. Not sure if I have done an E5 yet. Thanks for the tip!!!!

I can't speak to the V7iii, but I know the V7ii has the plug for the MGMP (tucked behind battery), and easily connects to Guzzi Diag through the connector (under the seat). I've had the unit since new.

As I understand it, the V7ii has the same transmission, TC and ABS as the V7iii, but it has the Heron head VS the Hemi on the V7iii. The V7iii had the Hemi Head and some change in the shock and rider triangle measurements. Was there an ECU change mid stream on the V7iii that made hooking up Guzzi Diag and resetting the service indicator?

I don't even remember if the V7ii even has a service indicator wrench....

My 2015 V7 had the wrench.  One could turn it off using the buttons on the gauge.

I don't pay any attention to the wrench on my V85.  It's on.  So what?  It's small.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not a history buff of the V7 series.

The earlier V7's with the 2 buttons on the dash you could clear the wrench with one of the buttons. When the dash was changed to the one without the buttons, you then needed to use the MGMP (?) connector which required the extra cable that is not included. Now it appears that the E5's at least, you can use the red tipped cable which is included to clear the wrench.

Correct.  The 2 button dash let the owner reset the maintenance notice.  The 2015 was the only V7 I had.  Can't assist on the later bikes.

No wrench just a MAINT when starting changed by the buttons on the II and I think the III also.
The 6 speed in the III got an oil pump and uses 500CCof 80# the II doesn't have it and has 700CC of heavy oil as I recall. No wonder dealer mechanics get confused.

Above is correct.  Been a while and I forgot.  It just indicated MAINT and then I reset it with the buttons.

I think the service wrench on the '26's needs to be reset by the dealer although there is a device being sold for about $300 that can do it. On mine, a '26, the screen is LCD so it is a faint grey and not very intrusive. I hardly notice it unless I am looking for it.

I can confirm that the iCarSoft MT V6 Plus (the one listed "for most motorcycles") WILL reset the service indicator! After updating it, that is. There appears to be a lot of other things it can do, check and clear fault codes, some real time data, register button presses and turn on and off the ABS pump and injectors. For right around $200.00 it doesn't seem like a bad deal overall. I actually wanted it more for real time data and faults than the service reset but thus far I'm glad I ordered it and glad it exists! Hopefully its helpful if my V85tt ever decides to give me the no start with absolutely no direction as to whats wrong again...

This is on a 2022 V85tt E5, it also lists the E5+ and the E4 bikes though I cannot confirm functionality with either of them myself.

The iCarSoft MT V6 Plus is a good price. I paid $399 for the OBDStar iScan Guzzi (included tax and shipping).

I can confirm also that the ICarsoft resets the wrench on my 2022 V85TT.  I also had to install the update before it would work.

So far I have not had success resetting the wrench on the 2021 V7-850.  I have tried every model option and it always gives me "communication failure".  I will try contacting ICarsoft

My initial contact with ICarsoft regarding my problem resetting the V7-850 Stone was positive.  They instructed me how to provide them with the LOG data of the error for their engineers to analyze.  I provided the LOG data this morning.

Do you have the MGMP connector usually hidden between the battery and the rear fender?

Would these devices (icarsoft or iscan) provide any
advantages compared to Guzzi Diag for a 1st gen Norge,
cost aside?

For the Norge...OBDStar so far can not enter the dash to remove the service or clear dash codes, I do not believe that Icarsoft will do it either.

Guzzidiag will do 90% of what you want. I have not looked a the actors for the Norge in GD, but OBDStar has quite a few actors.

Go here and look at the supported functions list, specifically for the Norge. I beleive you need to download it to read it?:
https://www.obdstarstore.com/wholesale/obdstar-iscan-gilera-motorcycle-diagnostic-scanner.html

For the money, GD, next for price, Icarsoft then OBDStar. When I bought OBDStar it had good reviews so I went with it. Now I would likely go with Icarsoft provided they have the M048 OBDStar style connector available.
