Merry Christmas Kev, yes I thought for some reason that only the Sport got the 52mm injectors. I had read that in one of the reviews.
The special I rode was a 25 and my Sport is a 2026. So maybe the 2026 V7 engines are all the same, and the 25 Special and stone didn’t get the new ecu and injectors??
Anyway whatever the specs between trims, I love the color and the blacked out drivetrain on the Sport.
It “feels” about as fast as my ‘94 Ducati 900ss. That bike was dyno’ed at 72 hp at the rear wheel. So the MG has less HP but more torque 🤷🏻♂️.
Just in an interest of trying to help with the terminology.
Throttle body, not injectors.
The 38 mm or 52 mm dimension is talking about the diameter of the metered air passage with the throttle butterfly.
The injectors are much MUCH smaller and mount directly to the manifold by each intake port.
As for 25 vs 26, anything's possible. Maybe they only brought in old style Specials for 25 or maybe the first batch was actually the new ones and they actually carried the 25 model year VIN code. Or sometimes salesman are sloppy with such things.
Obviously if it was the old ones I would better understand the dramatic seat of the pants difference in feel. But the old ones didn't have multi mapping and was physically different lacking the other changes like the exhaust and other external changes that came on the new series.
